Custom cabinets for Monument and the Palmer Divide.

Cabinets911 plans, builds and installs custom cabinets in Monument and the towns around it on the Palmer Divide: Woodmoor, Palmer Lake, Gleneagle and Black Forest. Kitchens, mudrooms, and the storage a snowy, muddy, gear-heavy household actually needs. We measure, design, build or supply, and install.

The Divide makes its own weather. North winds push air uphill onto this ridge, and it can snow in Monument while Colorado Springs stays dry. That changes how a house gets used. Boots, dogs and firewood come in through the garage, so the entry needs as much planning as the kitchen. Lots are bigger, many homes are custom, and the drive out here is long enough that every site visit has to count.

Mudroom cabinets built for Palmer Divide winters

Your mudroom takes more abuse than your kitchen from November through April. Melting snow sits on the floor. Wet coats hang against cabinet sides. Grit gets ground into the bench every day. A mudroom built from the same particleboard as a laundry shelf won't last a few winters.

We build entry storage around what comes through the door. Open lockers dry better than closed ones, so coats and gloves go in ventilated cubbies and closed doors are saved for the things you don't want to see. The bottom edges and toe kick get sealed, because that's where water sits. Our custom built-ins page has the wider list of what we build.

  • Open, ventilated lockers for wet coats and gloves
  • A boot tray zone with sealed edges and a raised toe kick
  • Closed uppers for off-season gear and dog supplies
  • A bench at sitting height, with drawers under it, not doors
  • An outlet planned in for boot dryers and chargers

Kitchen cabinets in Monument's custom and wooded homes

Monument's housing doesn't follow one builder's template, which is the point of living here. That also means fewer standard answers.

Woodmoor, from the 1970s on

Woodmoor started in 1971 under ponderosa pines, on lots that often run half an acre or more. The oldest houses are past 50, and their kitchens have often been redone at least once, sometimes right over earlier mistakes. We open things up enough to see what's holding the old boxes to the wall before quoting the new ones.

Palmer Lake's older cottages

Palmer Lake was incorporated in 1889, and some of its older cabins and cottages sit on steep hillside lots. Small rooms, uneven floors and walls that were never square. Stock cabinets here mean a wall of fillers. Custom boxes, scribed to the room, close those gaps and give back the inches.

Black Forest acreage and rebuilds

Most Black Forest homes sit on rural acreage with private wells. Filtration and softener equipment often ends up in the sink base, so we plan that cabinet around it. Homes rebuilt after the June 2013 Black Forest Fire are now more than a decade old, and their first kitchens are starting to show it.

How we plan a Monument cabinet installation around distance and snow

Every trip to a Tri-Lakes job is a real trip, and Monument Hill on I-25 can close in a storm. So we front-load the work. The first visit covers the full measure, photos of every wall and the conversation about how you use the room. We come back to verify only what has changed, such as a new window or a moved drain.

Install days get the same discipline. We confirm cabinets, hardware and fillers are complete before loading, because a missing piece costs a second drive. In winter we keep a backup date in mind. And if your driveway is long, steep or gravel, tell us early so delivery can be planned for it. Our process page lays out each step.

Routing

Where a Tri-Lakes cabinet project should start

  1. 01

IfThe entry floods with snow and gear every winter

ThenStart with the mudroom. It usually fixes more daily friction than a new kitchen.

  2. 02

IfYou're in an older Woodmoor or Palmer Lake house

ThenPlan a site measure with room to open up the old install.

  3. 03

IfYour sink base holds well water equipment

ThenBring the model numbers. The cabinet gets drawn around it.

  4. 04

    IfYou're building a custom home

ThenBring us in before rough plumbing and electrical so outlets and drains land where cabinets need them.

Monument-area neighborhoods and towns we cover

Tri-Lakes homes are spread out, from Woodmoor's wooded half-acre lots to five-acre parcels in Black Forest. We batch visits by area when we can and confirm driveway access before delivery. If your place is off a county road with no address signage, send a pin with your inquiry.

Monument cabinet questions

CallerWhat makes a good mudroom cabinet for Monument winters?

Cabinets911

Plywood or another water-tolerant box, sealed bottom edges, ventilated lockers and a bench with drawers. Keep closed storage high and open storage low, where wet gear dries. If the room is next to the garage, choose a door build that won't move much in cold, damp air. Plan an outlet for boot dryers before the cabinets go in.

CallerIs a Monument cabinet company different from one in Colorado Springs?

Cabinets911

The cabinets aren't. The planning is. Travel time, snow closures on Monument Hill and long rural driveways all affect scheduling. We cover both, and our Colorado Springs page explains the in-town side. Up here we push to get everything right on the first visit.

CallerCan you fit cabinets around a water softener or RO system?

Cabinets911

Yes, if we know about it before drawing. Black Forest and other well homes often keep filtration in the sink base or a utility room. We need the equipment's dimensions and service clearance so the cabinet leaves room to change filters without pulling it apart.

CallerShould I put new cabinets in before or after finishing my custom home's floors?

Cabinets911

Usually after flooring, when the floor is a continuous finished surface, so cabinets can be pulled later without patching. Some builders install cabinets first to save flooring. Either can work. We'll settle it with you and your builder before the schedule is set. Once you have plans, you can request a quote for the cabinet package.
